Symptoms are Messages- recap here on where to find more blogs on symptoms of perimenopause!
I hope you're enjoying your summer, the expansive energy, and also, finding rest. As for me, today (which is yesterday as you read this!) I had a big crash in my energy midday, and I needed to lie down for much longer than I want to admit. I'm sure many of you can relate.
I’m going to keep today short and sweet, and mainly remind you of a couple of things. 1- Ayurveda sees symptoms as messages from the body. And especially in perimenopause, we’re typically talking about a root cause that has been accumulating often for decades, usually connected to how we’ve been living our lives.
And 2- Ayurveda doesn’t treat symptoms like Western medicine does. In other words, it’s not “this symptom= this herb or this one thing.” It’s not like supplements either, which follow the same model. Drug or herb or supplement for symptom is NOT holistic medicine. Holistic means taking into account every part of you. I wrote a couple of posts on Substack on this here andhere if you want to go more in depth.

I also wanted to point you back to blog posts on symptoms. It’s easy to read these and then forget later they exist. I hope this serves today. ♥️
Banyan Botanicals - pick of the week
This month, in honor ofBanyan Botanicals’ 30th birthday, I’ll be highlighting some of my favorite products, especially for summer and general perimenopause support.
This week, it’s theLiver Detox ghee- a ghee that is full of bitter herbs to help support the liver and cool down pitta (fire and a little water) during summer. I take a teaspoon a day in the morning on an empty stomach and wait 20 minutes before drinking or eating anything else, and take it until the jar is finished for about a month. This can be really helpful for excess heat in the body in summer (signs include loose stools, irritability/anger, and hot flashes).
Use short-term and avoid if very depleted/have high vata vitiation. As always, check with your own practitioner or healthcare professional before adding herbs with medications or medical conditions.
For local Denver peeps- now offering shirodhara at Karma Yoga
Shirodhara is an ancient Ayurvedic treatment consisting of pouring oil continuously on the forehead, soaking the hair in oil, and includes a head, face and limb massage.
Shirodhara is one of the many Ayurvedic treatments that can be used in midlife to help pacify increasing air and ether (vata) in the body, which contributes to many symptoms during this time, including but not limited to trouble sleeping, hot flashes, weight gain, brain fog, low energy/fatigue and more.
However, this beautiful treatment can be helpful for people at any age and in all stages of life to help decrease stress, improve sleep quality, and support clarity of thought.
If you're interested in booking this in-person bliss treatment with me in Denver, please call Karma Yoga Denver Center at 303-284-8617 to book.
